St Peter's Church, Satterleigh

This delightful little old Church is also in a very rural area, accessed at the top of a hill, through a farmyard.  It is surrounded by an old stone wall with a lych-gate. Although services are no longer regularily held here, this church remains consecrated; inspiring, teaching and ministering through its beauty and atmosphere.

In 1435 Christians set this place apart for prayer and worship. They made their church beautiful with their skill and craftsmanship. Here they met for worship, for their children to be baptised, for couples to be married and their dead brought for burial. If you have the time come and enjoy the peace and holiness that have existed in this place for centuries.

In 1995 responsibility for the care of this Church (but not the churchyard) was vested in the Churches Conservation Trust. The Church is steeped in history and a publication by the Trust can be found there describing its features. The regulations of the Trust allow us to hold six services a year and these are normally held when there is a fifth Sunday in the month.  These services are popular, with the first service after Christmas often completely filling this tiny Church. We also hold our annual rogation service at Satterleigh Barton farm adjoining the Church, when we walk round the farm and the beautiful countryside and ask for God’s blessing on all his creation.

Any collections go to the Trust, to be used towards the upkeep of the Church.
